About CivicTide

Seattle deserves a City Hall that works. But most of what happens there is hard to follow, easy to miss, and too often determined by whoever can show up. CivicTide exists to change that.

This is all about putting out legislative dumpster fires and mobilizing air cover for Councilmembers taking hard votes. We back outcomes‑focused governance on the issues that impact people’s daily lives: public safety; homelessness; housing; addiction; and the City’s fiscal decisions, to name just a few.

Some voices get plenty of airtime at City Hall while others barely make it into the room. CivicTide broadens that conversation. Our weekly rundown tracks legislation from introduction through committee to final vote, what people are saying about it, and when votes are scheduled so you can watch or weigh in. CivicTide’s policy briefs dig into the details of significant bills and explain how their implementation could impact regular Seattleites and small businesses, with links to supporting documents to check for yourself and positions you’re free to disagree with.

Government is a two‑way street. Councilmembers make better decisions when constituents weigh in. So when you want to be heard, we make it easy to email your Councilmember or share your perspective on social media, both in about thirty seconds.

CivicTide’s view tends to be simple: if it’s not working, do something different. In our opinion column we connect the dots between what’s going on, the forces keeping Seattle stuck, and pragmatic solutions to move our city forward.
